Ode to Alexander Lee

His concepts are among the most innovative in Fashion's history. He was a maverick and a champion for bravely going where no timid sweater girl dare venture. Dubbed the maker of the 'Impossible Shoe,' he held to no convention about how a shoe should be made. Why not put a heel in the front as well as the back? Why should the shoe curve inward to the front of a woman's foot? Alexander Lee McQueen asked these questions and defied what was considered elementary about design and in doing he broke ground that others had never considered was breakable.

I love this shot of McQueen's Python shoe juxtaposed with a simple stiletto pump. Who do you think would win in a fight? My bets are on the Python!

I just found a pic of a McQueen shoe with a Steampunk inspired heel! I've found a wealth of inspiration from the Steampunk concept and love that he too was drawn to use the ideas in this design.

Alexander Lee McQueen will be missed but in the years to come it will be evident that he has not been forgotten.
