We're all a little mad here...an adventure to Wonderland

Well this IS grand!...

I opened the strange leather case that had been mysteriously left outside my door and read the parchment inside…

"You are cordially invited to a weekend in Wonderland. In this case you will find items crucial to ensuring your time in Wonderland is without consternation. It is vital that you are on time for any royal engagement, therefore you are being provided with a watch.
So that you don’t have to soil your dress by falling down that pesky rabbit hole Alice insists on using, a key has been attached to the watch that will allow you to safely pass through the Transmigrationator (looking glass) which is installed in the case. Careful attention must be paid to the enclosed vials of Atomic Expansulation and Diminulator Potions labelled ‘Drink Me.’

Please follow instructions for these volatile liquids implicitly, including wearing them, the watch and the key around your neck at all times. Much distress will be avoided by this simple precaution the least of which being the possibility of another Great Flood. While Mock Turtle finds immense pleasure in spontaneous rivers, they adversely affect Walrus’ fresh-water oyster farm and do no good whatsoever to Her Majesty’s Rose Garden.

We are also pleased to now be able to provide visitors with a Diminulator/Expansulation Facilitator.
This is a complex device utilising state-of-the-art technology enabling transfiguration of the scale of your accoutrements. Transfigure and bring with you clothing suitable for a formal audience with Her Majesty the Queen as well as Lawn Croquet wear and bear in mind that if you wish to swim in the Lake of Tears, appropriate swimwear must be worn. The weather here is temperate, sunny and warm.

We look forward to welcoming you to Wonderland!”

How exciting! A stellar excuse to amass a fantasy wardrobe worthy of Wonderland!

According to the instructions, by immersing the front right ‘leg’ of the Diminulator/Expansulation Facilitator in the bottle of blue Diminulator Potion and holding the Activaton Diode to the Reactionary Crystal for 3 seconds, I can shrink my suitcase and its contents to the size of a small matchbox! Since I can be up to two feet tall when I enter the glass, I’ll have no trouble carrying several changes of clothes.

First, I’ll need a travel dress. I see no harm in paying homage to Alice’s traditional gingham, so I’ll be wearing this day dress from Christopher Kane’s SS10 Collection, these Irregular Choice darlings, and this Alice Band from http://www.etsy.com/shop/Helenaaleixoglamour.

I’m conflicted when it comes to my Lawn Croquet Costume.

I love Luella’s heart dress
(sure to be a classic now as the signature dress from their final collection), but I hate the colour and want to show a little less leg. Alas, there’s no time for customising, so I will opt for this yummy pink ensemble from Giles Deacon.

The wooden wedge Irregular Choice shoes will look terrif with it too and the heels won’t sink if the lawn is soggy. A pink Cass Alice in Wonder Band from Chapeau Claudette ( www.visorette.com ) might be too much pink for some, but not me.
I love this little teacup ring too and it might even come in useful.

Since luggage space is not an issue, I’m packing Dior Couture for an audience with the Queen. Well, wouldn’t you?
I’ll wear it with these regal Perchoir Pumps from Christian Louboutin.
Come to think of it, since Wonderland has two queens, I might need two formal gowns! It’s gotta be Anna Kendrick’s dress from the Oscars on Sunday.
(I’m desperately seeking the designer now.) The Judith Leiber clutch she holds and the Perchoir Pumps will go with both gowns.

For formal tea parties…

I find myself back in Dior.

With a pair of black Louis Vuitton hourglass shoes

and pink gloves, this pink tulle skirt and dramatic hat are perfect for tea in the royal garden.

I must admit I’m unable to resist bringing this ever so divine candy striped dream from Craig Lawrence as well.

I’ll top it with this rather mad number from Bubbles and Frown at Etsy, wear a cake on my finger

and feel right at home at my place next to the March Hare.

For less formal gatherings, this funky grouping from Eley Kishimoto is the bee’s knees.

Kurt Geiger’s Jada Clogs, worn with pale mint ankle socks, will be perfect for strolling the garden paths

and a Turn Hat in bottle green from Chapeau Claudette will keep the sun out of my eyes.

This amazing vintage brooch and earring set from footloosevintage at Etsy should put the icing on the cake (I’ll pin the brooch to the hat)

and if they don’t, this ring from SweetLove4U at Etsy certainly will.

Of course, I’ll have these custom embellished gloves at the ready in case I feel underdressed!

In case I do want to go for a dip in the Lake of Tears, or perhaps just do some wading,

I’ll bring a vintage swim costume from GlamourSurf.com.

This honeybee number is just my size and would look super sweet with this striped Philip Treacy hat.

Add some Alexander Wang black sandal boots and I’m set to go!

I’ve sworn allegiance to vintage and high-quality repro vintage swimwear since finding a lovely blue one last year. They are so much more flattering than modern styles. If like me, you find a suit with a bra cup that’s lost its vavoom, MyBabyJo.com sells replacement Bullet Bra Pads.

A swimcap might be in order as well. There’s something very glamorous about them.

For lounging around, this Basso & Brooke graphic maxi is the ideal thing. It looks great with the Treacy hat and Wang shoes too!

When I lay down to dream in Wonderland, this vintage nightgown will send me off to sleep in luxury no matter where I find I lay my head.

If I wasn’t obligated to keep the menagerie of objects, each quite necessary, around my neck; i.e.: the potions, key and watch (oh! That reminds me I must save some room for the Dimunulator thingy in my case!); I’d order one of the cute Alice in Wonderland themed necklaces available on Etsy…

It just wouldn’t be right to arrive empty-handed, so I’ll bring a basket of these handmade goodies…

For The White Rabbit, this white chocolate fan…

For the Red Queen, delicate rose infused marshmallows…

For The White Queen, irresistible edible butterflies…

The Caterpillar won’t be able to resist these cocoa-dusted meringue mushrooms!

The Cheshire Cat is sure to enjoy one of these Catnip Cake Toys.

And finally, Green Tea and Black Sesame chocolates, strange treats indeed worthy of the Mad Hatter.

My case is waiting to hold its contents and make its journey to a small world.

I can’t wait to depart the gloom of England and find myself on the sunny paths Wonderland.
